  • Add this recipe to your dinner rotation. Perfect portions, kid friendly and filling. Easy to make.

This is a recipe in our normal dinner rotation. Sometimes I make slight changes to the recipe, but this version is the most healthy. I will tell you at the end my favorite variation. But this version is still pretty solid.

Here is what you will need:

  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 medium chopped onion
  • 1 large carrot finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup ketchup, divided
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground turkey. ( I used lean, but extra lean will work too)
  • 1 1/4 cup GF Oats (I used Trader Joe’s)
  • 2 tablespoons mustard.
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 large eggs


  • Cooking spray
  • Mini Muffin Tin. (24 count)



Sautee the onion, carrot and garlic in olive oil for a few minutes.  Allow to coolGFTT meat-1 GFTT meat-2

GFTT meat-3 GFTT meat-4 GFTT meat-5In a mixing bowl add 1/2 of the ketchup, and all the ingredients on the above list. Mix well. Once the onion mixture has cooled, add and mix again.

Drop two large tablespoons of the meat mixture to your sprayed mini muffin tin.  Top each with the remaining ketchup.

Cook 350 for 20-25 minutes. Use a meat thermometer to make sure the internal temperature reaches 160.

This recipes is a solid 4. I mentioned there are ways to vary this recipe. My personal favorite is using 1/2lb of ground spicy pork sausage in place of 1/2 lb of the turkey. This adds a little more fat and taste. But if you want to get it pretty healthy, just stick with the turkey. Either way you are will have a tasty treat. You can also play around with the seasonings.

You can freeze leftovers too. I love having these in the freezer for a quick meal. Consider making extra.
